EC Unit Installation
Heritage removed and installed an EC Unit at a manufacturing facility in Eastern Pennsylvania. The team worked under a tight schedule due to the required plant shutdown during the operation. The EC Unit sat close to energized and operating systems, demanding precision and strict safety protocols.
Before starting the project, the team developed a detailed Health and Safety Plan (HASP) and an Engineered Plan. These plans included lift procedures, weight calculations, weather and wind monitoring, ground stability confirmation, and other critical factors to ensure safe lifting operations throughout the project.

THE CHALLENGE
The scope of the project consisted of the following tasks:
- Dismantled, removed, and disposed of the existing EC Unit
- Dismantled, removed, and disposed of the existing sound wall
- Modified existing structures according to contract drawings
- Installed a 16” hot-dip galvanized steel frame on the existing structure
- Offloaded the new unit in the designated area
- Installed the new unit on the existing structure
THE EXECUTION
To complete the dismantling, removals, and installations, Heritage used a 650-ton hydraulic crane, a 110-ton hydraulic crane, and various rigging systems. After lowering the pre-existing EC Unit sections to the ground, the team moved them to a laydown area for further dismantling and off-site disposal. The crew sorted all dismantling debris and shipped it to the appropriate recycling facilities.
Heritage completed the project ahead of schedule, minimizing the plant’s total shutdown time and causing minimal impact on production. The company takes great pride in delivering this complex project on time—and, most importantly, without incident.
