Former Colgate Facility Auction
Heritage rigged and removed equipment that had been auctioned and sold from the former 600,000 sq. ft. Colgate facility in New Jersey. The team conducted extensive pre-planning, as the facility’s demolition coincided with the rigging and removal work. Heritage completed rigging operations across multiple building areas to stay on schedule for the demolition.
All on-site contractors held daily meetings during the project to coordinate the complex logistics. In addition to these project meetings, crews conducted daily toolbox talks and developed Job Safety Analyses to ensure employee safety.
Before work began, the client de-energized, isolated, capped, and air-gapped all active supply lines, including electrical, steam, and gas.

THE CHALLENGE
The scope of work included:
- All crane rigging and loading items needed to have approved lifting plans before work began
- Over 100 loads of equipment were transported from the site to their final destinations, including multiple over-dimensional loads that required permitting and escorts
- The equipment removed consisted of S/S agitated jacketed tanks, fiberglass tanks, packaging lines with conveyor, CIP water filtration system, boilers, chillers, emergency generators, and other associated equipment
THE EXECUTION
The crew utilized a range of equipment throughout the project, including various hydraulic gantries and rigging tools, multiple scissor lifts, a 12 K-capacity telescopic lull, forklifts ranging from 5K to 20K capacity, and an Extreme Telehandler XR23034 with a 30,000-pound lifting capacity.
