Industrial Manufacturing Plant
Heritage performed an Industrial Manufacturing Plant Closure and Decommission project at a 400,000 sq. ft. plant in Bergen County, NJ. The project was performed for a large International manufacturer of foils, laminates and holographic materials.
Over the years, Heritage has been the contractor of choice for handling the machinery and equipment within the facility. The client contracted Heritage based on its competitive bid, past turn-key services, and ability to perform this work under a critical path schedule. Before mobilizing, the team held a kickoff meeting, and all employees reviewed the approved Site-Specific Health & Safety Plan.
Production at the plant ended in mid-July 2018, and removal work started simultaneously, with a completion deadline in September 2018. This timeline gave Heritage less than 12 weeks to dismantle, load, and remove all the machinery and equipment within the plant, delivering the plant empty to the customer on time.

THE CHALLENGE
Heritage’s scope of work included the following:
- Match-mark, tag, and disconnect all electrical wiring, panels, ductwork, and utility piping
- Rig and remove designated equipment for relocation
- Dismantle and demolish the equipment identified as abandoned
- Skid and crate the designated equipment for shipment
- Load 20 truckloads of machinery and equipment for shipment to other company plants in CA, OH, and PA
- Empty the facility in under 12 weeks to meet the customer’s completion deadline
THE EXECUTION
Heritage removed all machinery and equipment from the plant in under 12 weeks, beating the critical path schedule and meeting the deadline.
The team used company-owned tools and equipment throughout the project, including various small tools, rigging booms, a 15 K-capacity Lull, multiple forklifts ranging from 5K to 20K capacity, and a Versa-Lift 40-60.
